Welcome to Good Space Counselling, my name is Meghan Macer and I am a member of the BACP and hold a level 6 qualification in counselling and psychotherapy
With a background in the arts and nearly two decades of experience as a mother to four, I have devoted both my personal and professional life to the exploration and care of the human experience. My extensive work with young people—both in professional and voluntary roles—has affirmed my natural capacity for empathy and deepened my commitment to supporting others through counselling.

As an integrative counsellor grounded in the person-centred approach, I work with a wide range of clients, including adults and young people from the age of 13. I am a trans-affirmative psychotherapist and specialise in supporting gender-expansive individuals, providing a safe, inclusive, and affirming therapeutic space.

Supporting teens and adults, my practice includes experience in working with trans and gender expansive folks, neurodivergent clients and those navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, domestic violence, sexual abuse, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, relationship difficulties, and issues related to substance use and other addictive behaviours.

My experience enables me to support neurodivergent clients by taking a client-led, autonomy-respecting approach that avoids triggering a perceived loss of control. I am especially mindful that directive therapies like CBT, while helpful in some contexts, may feel invalidating or even harmful to neurodivergent individuals who are not ready or able to engage with such structured methods. Instead, I draw on creative and person-centred modalities that prioritise self-awareness over enforced change, ensuring the therapeutic process aligns with each client’s unique needs and pace.

I hold a First Class Bachelor of Arts, with Honours, in Counselling and the Psychotherapeutic Relationship, from the University of Warwick, alongside formal acting training from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, The Oxford School of Drama, The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre. In addition, I have undertaken specialist training in Gender, Sexual, and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) with Pink Therapy, as well as Domestic Violence Training through Family Intervention Crisis Services. I currently volunteer on the support line for Mermaids UK.

I work face to face with folks, online or over the telephone.
